Innovations from the Hamburg design scene, presented by Heike Hüning.
 
Heike Hüning‘s Nelumbo collection is a line of functional clothing inspired by the lotus plant: a plant found in wet muddy areas, but which due to the microstructure of its leaves remains amazingly clean.  This property is the basis for the Nelumbo collection, which uses the themes „Future,“ „Comfort“ and „Protection“.
The Nelumbo collection is made from materials whose choice of colour combinations and textures are strongly inspired by the lotus plant, whilst at the same time possessing its self-cleaning properties.  For this to be possible innovations in the textile and chemical industry were required, and through the support of BASF AG their production was realised.
